Other Communities

There were over two dozen Jewish colonies that formed in southern New Jersey during the 1880s and 1890s. While some failed, others succeeded and grew into thriving communities. Several of these had close ties to Alliance. Click on the images below to learn more about the history of each community.

Carmel Public School, Mickey Collection

Located about two and a half miles southeast of Rosenhayn, Carmel was resettled by Jewish colonists in 1882. Click on the image to read a brief history.

Public School Number 9, Norma

Eventually, the original Alliance Colony expanded into neighboring areas. Read more about the Norma community by clicking on the image above.

The Rosenhayn Post Office

Located about six miles south of Alliance, Rosenhayn was established and briefly supported by the Hebrew Emigrant Aid Society. Learn more here.
